Is it global warming? It is your health? How long have you been thinking green? What’s motivated you?
I do it because I thinks it a more organized and practical way of thinking. Its habitual for me. I’m not really thinking about organization. When I buy the new light-bulbs I think more efficient.
The day I looked up at one of the most beautiful mountains on Vancouver Island and all I saw was a gapping hole of clear-cut. Although British Columbia has a very good planting program, it made me realize how important the environment is. Thus, I started to think green.
Honestly, I’m always thinking about John Philip. I thought I’d get that bad joke in there before someone else did.
‘Sustainable’.. that’s the key word. If thinking green is helping us in many ways then that’s good but on a more deeper level one has to think about how all this is impacting the future. It’s important to think of the environment in a way that shows how we’re using it for our own benefits ; n how plundering resources will actually determine how much is left for the generations to come by. After all, that’s what Sustainable is, isn’t it ?
I have the ‘worst’, yet most practical answer ever. I’m cheap, so I’ve been thinking green as long as I’ve been paying my own bills.
I hate paying my hydro bill, so I’m all about turning off lights, and unplugging almost everything in my house to eliminate phantom power drain (also called Vampire Power ). It still confuses my partner every time he tries to turn on the stereo, but really, the laughs just adds to the savings.
Also, I hate paying for gas, so I rely on ‘The Better Way” as much as possible, and if I am going out of town to an event, I offer up carpooling to anyone I know who’s attending the same event. Less cars on the road yes, but more importantly, more people to chip in for gas!
