Why not pamper mom and at the same time mother nature? There’s a bunch of different options for last minute gifting ideas and activities to do with the whole family.

Take a Stroll in the Park Take in the beautiful spring air for a nice walk with mother dearest. Look around at neighbourhood gardens, parks and waterfront areas that are blooming with new life this time of year. Not only is it good for your body, fresh air and company is good for the soul.

Brunching Organically It’s become sort of a staple to go out to eat with the family on this special day. Why not take consideration a little farther and research a place that uses locally produced, in season vegetables. Organic options will make you feel that much better about taking mom to that special place. Check out the Eat Well Guide online at http://www.eatwellguide.org/i.php?id=Home to find a place nearby. If your area isn’t listed, why not ask and inquire about the produce being served to you. Even if you find it’s not, it will spark some important thoughts on eating green.

Organic Flowers You can do an online search to find an organic variety of mom’s favourites. Gte the scoop on organic bouquets from this great article found at http://www.greenyour.com/home/lawn-garden/flowers/tips/buy-organic-flowers .

Outside of flowers you can search for other green items as well, such as clothing (organic bamboo anyone?), indoor and outdoor plants (native are best) or even a trip to an eco-friendly spa!

Whatever you choose, make the most of your time, your health and Mother Nature’s and you’ll be amazed what a difference it can make!

What other green gift giving ideas do you have in mind?

Just a small question- how are organic flowers different from regular flowers? Green gifts are great… especially the walk in the park one, I’m a bit short on cash. Thanks for the tip.

Great question Oren. Certified organic flowers are to be up to environmental standards for sustainability. They are grown without the use of pesticides and other harmful chemicals. Some other flowers are grown and preserved with artificial chemicals, unfortunately these chemicals can be circulated through the air or can be washed off and eventually get into our soil and groundwater, disrupting animal life lower down in our food chains. Buying organic provides a greener option to give you a pesticide-free gift.

Another green option is to look into locally produced flowers. These improve our impact as far as global warming goes since they don’t have to travel as great a distance. This option decreases the amount of carbon emissions through their shorter transportation route.
